CONCEPT

At this project the point of attraction is the old castle of town Milazzo, which is situated in Sicily. Studying the location data, ie the massive walls of the castle and the unexploited beach, results the main idea which attempts to overturn the so far use of the walls. More specifically, the beach area is designed from scratch forming spaces suitable for touristic and sports facilities, while a new layer of “landscape observation” is added to the castle. The new layer is a construction at the outer part of the walls which negates the latter’s so far use and adds the element of tourism, thus giving a “second chance” to the historic building.
